Safety & Awareness

To help you feel safe and comfortable at Shutdown Festival, we’ve put together some important information on safety and awareness.

We’re committed to preventing any form of (sexualized) violence, discrimination (based on gender identity, social background, sexual orientation, religion, beliefs, disability, or age), and violations of personal boundaries.

But above all, it’s about looking out for one another, being kind, and contributing to a safer and more respectful atmosphere by keeping the following in mind.

Basic Guidelines:

– Respect the personal boundaries of others.

– If you see or hear someone in need of help or support, don’t look away — speak up and get help.

  • We have a zero-tolerance policy for all forms of racism, sexism, ableism, antisemitism, and queerphobia.

Let’s work together to make Shutdown Festival a safer place for everyone!

Tipps & Resources

Awareness: Mindful Crew

What is the Mindful Crew?

“You talk, we listen” – that’s the motto of the Mindful Crew, a team of festival chaplains who are here for you if you ever find yourself in a difficult situation, feel uncomfortable, or simply need someone to talk to.

You can approach them at any time and share whatever’s on your mind. They’ll listen, support you, and can guide you to a quiet, calm space away from the crowds to help you work through the moment.

How can I reach the Mindful Crew?

The Mindful Crew is easy to spot — just look for the green high-visibility vests or visit their booth next to the bar in the Food Area!

Of course, you can also ask for support at any bar, the Service Center, or the Ticketing Helpdesk — our team will calmly and discreetly help you out of the situation until the Mindful Crew arrives.

Hotline
If you need support outside of staffed hours, you can reach the Mindful Crew 24/7 at +43 664 8868 0650.

Safety

Safety: What should I do if I get injured?

If you get injured, there are plenty of paramedics available to help you.
They are patrolling the entire festival site and can also be found at several fixed locations — you’ll find their exact positions in the Shutdown App.

In case of an emergency, you can also reach emergency services via the following numbers:
Ambulance: 144
Fire Department: 122
Police: 133
EU Emergency Number: 112

Since the festival grounds are quite large, each structure has its own house number. If you tell this number to the Festival Guards or emergency responders, it helps them locate you quickly and provide faster support.

Safety: What to do in case of a severe weather warning?

If a storm or thunderstorm occurs, please seek shelter in your car and stay inside until the weather has passed. Do not leave the vehicle during the storm.

Look out for one another — if you have extra space in your car, please offer it to other festival guests. You can signal that you have room by turning on your car’s hazard lights.

General Tips

– Stay hydrated – especially in high temperatures.
– Use sunscreen, wear a hat, and take breaks in the shade to avoid sunburn and heatstroke.
– Make sure to eat regularly – it gives you the energy you need to enjoy a full day at the festival.
– Take breaks and listen to your body.
– Download the Shutdown App for real-time updates, weather alerts, and the interactive festival map.

– Feeling emotionally overwhelmed or stressed? Reach out to the Mindful Crew.
– In case of injury, contact the on-site paramedics for help.

Hearing Protection

Since it can get loud on the festival grounds, we recommend wearing hearing protection.
If you don’t have any with you, you can pick up free earplugs at our Service Center.
