House Rules Independent Event GmbH / Shutdown Festival
The following house rules apply to the entire event site. Icase of doubt, the German version should be referred to.
1. Liability
The organizer is only liable for damages, injuries, and theft of any kind suffered by visitors on the event site if the damage was caused by the organizer, their representatives, or authorized agents intentionally or through gross negligence. The organizer is not liable for personal or property damage caused by third parties or force majeure. After the event, the organizer assumes no liability for visitors who remain on the event site after closing time or re-enter after being excluded. The facilities made available to visitors must be used responsibly and gently. All other facilities and structures may not be entered or operated by visitors. Visitors must leave the event site at the end of opening hours.
2. ID
Every guest is required to carry a valid official photo ID. Other forms of ID will not be accepted.
3. Animals
No animals of any kind are allowed on the event grounds or in the buildings. Exception: Guide dogs, provided they are wearing a muzzle and are kept on a leash.
4. Safety Instructions & Order
Visitors must always comply with the instructions of the organizer, event staff, security, and supervisory personnel. All individuals entering the event site must behave in a way that does not harm, endanger, or disturb others. They must also avoid causing damage to structures, equipment, or objects. All individuals entering the event site must comply with the orders of the organizer, the security service, the police, the fire department, and the rescue service, as well as instructions via the PA system or video walls. For safety reasons and to prevent hazards, visitors are required to move to other areas as directed by the security service, police, fire department, or through the PA system or video walls. It is explicitly stated that in the event of a storm (heavy rain, wind, lightning), all participants are responsible for taking appropriate protective measures. In particular, staying under trees or near technical structures or tents poses a danger and should be avoided.
5. Violence
Any form of violence is strictly prohibited at all events. Violations will result in immediate expulsion from the event site and, if necessary, a report to the relevant authorities.
6. Cancellation / Program Change
In case of an event cancellation mandated by authorities (e.g., due to the coronavirus), purchased tickets can be returned up to two months after the event date for a refund. Short-term program or date changes are at the organizer’s discretion and do not entitle ticket holders to a refund. If one or more artists cancel, part of the site becomes unusable, or there is a temporary technical failure due to force majeure, there is no entitlement to a price reduction. Costs incurred (travel, accommodation, service fees, etc.) will not be reimbursed by the organizer in case of an involuntary cancellation, postponement, program, or lineup change.
7. Audio & Video Recordings
The visitor explicitly agrees that any recordings made by them will be recorded digitally or analogously without compensation and without time limitations. These recordings may be published in part or in full. Such recordings may be published on the event website, on social media, in newspapers, and other media channels. These recordings may be used for post-event reporting or to promote future festivals or similar events. Visitors can object to the publication of images in writing via info@shutdownfestival.at. All event entrances are monitored by video surveillance. Personal audio, film, and photo recordings (except for private use) are not allowed. A written declaration from the organizer is required for an exception.
8. Volume / Hearing Protection
The sound level at the event may exceed 93 dB and can be harmful to hearing. Wearing hearing protection, especially near the stage areas, is strongly recommended. Free hearing protection is available at all Info/Lost & Found points on the site.
9. Brought Items
A detailed list of prohibited items can be found at https://www.shutdownfestival.at/faq under “Prohibited Items.” If a visitor attempts to enter with such items, they must be removed (e.g., taken to the car) or disposed of. Illegal items (weapons, drugs, etc.) will be handed over to the police. The organizer is not responsible for storing such items. Every visitor agrees to have their bags and personal belongings searched for prohibited items. If a visitor refuses the search, they are not allowed to enter the event site. The organizer reserves the right to exclude individuals who attempt to smuggle prohibited items onto the site.
10. Item Storage
Items may only be stored in designated areas (lockers). If items are left elsewhere (e.g., hidden on the event grounds, stored behind a bar or on stage), no storage agreement is made, and the organizer assumes no liability.
11. Bag Check
The organizer reserves the right to search visitors for dangerous or prohibited items before entering the event site, as well as during the event. If such items are found, they will be confiscated without exception.
12. Heavy Alcohol Consumption / Drug Influence
Individuals who are heavily impaired are not allowed to enter the event site. In such cases, the ticket price will not be refunded.
13. Minimum Age
The minimum age for the event is strictly 16 years. Even if accompanied by an older person or with written parental consent, this age limit cannot be altered.
14. Youth Protection Law
The Youth Protection Law of Lower Austria in its current version on the day of the event applies to the entire event site.
15. Footwear
It is strongly recommended to wear sturdy footwear with a solid and stable sole that provides sufficient grip on the entire event grounds.
16. Climbing Structures
Climbing any structures is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate expulsion from the event site, as well as a report to the relevant authorities.
17. Parking Parking is only allowed for visitors with a valid entrance ticket during opening hours. Sleeping in the parking lot, both in and outside vehicles, is prohibited. Camping, erecting tents, or setting up sleeping arrangements in the parking lot is also prohibited. The Austrian road traffic regulations (StVO) apply to the parking lot. Parking spaces must be used as directed, and parking between aisles is prohibited. Throwing trash in the parking lot is strictly forbidden. The organizer is not responsible for personal or property damage caused by third parties or force majeure. Additionally, the organizer is not responsible for any vehicles that get stuck. No storage agreement is made for the parking lot; it is a rental agreement for temporary vehicle parking. The organizer assumes no liability for items in the parking lot. Entrance and exit of the parking lot will be monitored during opening hours, with regular rounds conducted over the parking areas.
20. Waste
All types of waste must be disposed of in the designated trash bins and containers. Littering is prohibited.
21. Digging Holes
Digging holes is prohibited on the entire site.
22. Payments at the Event Site
The event can only be paid for via a digital prepaid payment system. Any remaining balance can be refunded online via bank transfer within three years after the event. Further information can be found under Info – Cashless & Payout.
23. Behavior in Case of Storm
It is explicitly stated that in the event of a storm, all participants are responsible for taking appropriate protective measures. Staying under trees, near construction fences, or in close proximity to technical setups or structures should be avoided.
24. Consequences of Violations
Any violation of these house rules may result in expulsion from the event site. It is noted that disregarding an expulsion order from security personnel constitutes an administrative offense. Any potentially criminal or administrative violations will be reported to the relevant authorities without exception.
