Every year at the beginning of August, the Zwentendorf Nuclear Power Plant transforms into a unique festival location. 15,000 visitors from over 20 countries come together to escape everyday life and celebrate their shared passion for music beyond 150 BPM. From Hardstyle and Hardcore Classics to Raw, Uptempo, and Terror – every Hard Dance lover is sure to find their beat here.

On this stage, the biggest Hard Dance artists take the spotlight. With the legendary Rush Rumble and a spectacular endshow, the mainstage is the heart of Shutdown Festival.
Vibe Stage

Toxic Arena

The Location
The Zwentendorf Nuclear Power Plant was built between 1972 and 1976 as Austria’s first nuclear power plant. However, due to a 1978 referendum, in which the majority of Austrians voted against the use of nuclear energy, the power plant was never put into operation.
Originally planned as a modern energy supplier, it is now used as a venue for events and training, offering a fascinating backdrop for gatherings. Nestled in the endless fields of Lower Austria, right by the Danube, the Zwentendorf Nuclear Power Plant is arguably Austria’s most unique event location, as well as an impressive monument to Austrian history.
Since 2017, the Shutdown Festival has taken place annually in August at this special location.
